Coaching as Part of a Scheduled Workshop or as Follow-UpTop of Page

See what coaching participants have to say...

During one-on-one coaching sessions (usually 40 minutes in length), a sample of each participant’s writing is edited and the participant's writing strengths and problems are discussed. These sessions allow participants to apply the lessons learned during the group session to their own writing problems.

Some firms schedule a day of one-on-one coaching sessions without scheduling a group session or, as a follow-up, several months after a group session is held.

“Those of our associates who participated in your one-on-one training sessions found them particularly helpful in addressing their individual needs.”

Richard G. Pierson, Esq., Partner
Carter, Ledyard & Milburn (New York)

“Marilyn’s presentation, materials and, most especially, her individual editing sessions separated her course from all the other writing seminars I . . . explored.

Marilyn has received rave reviews from our associates. . . . I have nothing but the highest praise for her course and know that our associates and partners have reaped the benefits.”

“The attorneys who attended the individual sessions with you think your input on their written work was one of the most valuable learning experiences they have had.”

Palmer & Dodge LLP (Boston)

Telephone Coaching

After an initial conversation, Marilyn receives a sample of the lawyer’s writing, edits the writing, and e-mails the marked-up copy back to the lawyer. A telephone coaching session is then scheduled to discuss steps the lawyer can take to improve his or her writing. This coaching cycle can be repeated with additional writing samples. Some time between cycles is helpful—it gives the lawyer time to apply what is learned to new writing projects.

If Marilyn will be in your city, an in-person coaching session can be scheduled.

“[Y]our individual coaching sessions with some of our mid-level associates who needed assistance in “taking the next step” with regard to their writing skills have been invaluable.

Our associates find you very approachable and easy to work with. Your materials are well organized and you are easily accessible. We look forward to growing our relationship as we plan to call upon you often in years to come!”
